For Leonard Hamilton and the Florida State men’s basketball program, recent headlines have been dominated by Seminole players entering the transfer portal. Today we bring the news that a portal transfer is heading to Tallahassee.
Jerry Deng, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward who played for the Hampton Pirates last season, has chosen FSU as his new destination.
Deng averaged 10.1 points and 4.2 rebounds and made 39.1 percent of his three-point attempts. Deng reached double figures in 16 games and had a career-high 37 points against Mary Baldwin in December.
247 Sports Composite ranks him as a high three-star transfer prospect, 207th overall and the 31st best power forward. Deng had previously visited the New Mexico Lobos and also received interest from the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Deng played at Norcross High School and Golden State Prep in Norcross, Georgia, before signing with Hampton. He was a three-star prospect coming out of high school.
