Neco Williams left Liverpool this summer in a deal worth £18m which ended the Wales international’s 15-year stay on Merseyside. The former Liverpool midfielder and 2005 Champions League winner has had his say on the departure.
Williams arrived at Liverpool in 2009 and rose through the academy ranks before breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s first team in the 19/20 season. The Welshman went on to make 33 senior appearances for Liverpool in all competitions before his loan spell at Fulham.
Arriving at Craven Cottage on January 22, Neco played 15 times for Marco Silva’s side returning two goals and assisting in the process, a key figure in securing Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League for the next campaign.

Upon news of his departure, Williams wrote on his official Instagram “15 years at this special club, thank you for everything @liverpoolfc, it was an honor to play for this club and to play under Jurgen Klopp. But now I have decided to take on a new challenge”
Speaking exclusively to Genting Casino, former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann said “Neco Williams is a very good player and he needs game time so I think it was a good move and the right move and he will massively help Nottingham Forest stay in the Premier League.”
