Ellen DeGeneres has been conscripted into a conspiracy theory that accuses Wayfair of acting as a front for human trafficking by selling expensive cupboards bearing the names of people.
The celebrity of the talk show was questioned on Twitter for her Wayfair collection which would have included a five-digit pillow but is selling for much less. Social media users interviewed the host of the show and whether she was involved in the alleged conspiracy theory of child trafficking.
“@TheEllenShow, please explain why you are selling pillows on Wayfair for more than 10,000 euros with missing children’s names? Are you part of #wayfairtrafficking ???” a user asked on social media.
Attached to the tweet was a screenshot of a lumbar pillow with a price of $ 10,098, but a search for the product, which did not have a child’s name attached, resulted in a page on the Wayfair site for the same pillow with $ 99 price tag.
WAYFAIR REFUSES THE REDUCTION OF THE CONSPIRATION THEORY OF SEX TRAFFIC
Neither DeGeneres nor Wayfair responded to FOX Business’ requests for comment on Monday.
The ED Ellen Degeneres collection with Wayfair was launched in 2015 as a joint venture between talk show host and Burch Creative Capital CEO Christopher Burch, according to the Wayfair website. A social media user posted what appears to be a screenshot of the pillow allegedly displayed on DeGeneres’ Wayfair collection page.
Allegations that Wayfair played a role in human trafficking were circulated last week when Reddit users in the “r / conspiracy” subreddit reported screenshots of furniture with high price tags, which are not part of Ellen’s collection. Cabinets and cupboards appeared to be priced between $ 12,699.99 and $ 14,499.99, as well as furniture bearing names of people like Neriah, Yaritza, Samiya and Alyvia. Forum users have stated that the names may belong to missing children.

Wayfair denied claims to FOX Business on Friday
“There is, of course, no truth to these claims,” Wayfair spokesperson Susan Frechette told FOX Business on Friday. “The products in question are industrial quality cabinets at an exact price.”
The company has since deleted product images from its website and has announced plans to rename the products.
Wayfair has already been in hot water. The Washington Post reported last year that the online furniture retailer had supplied beds for the ICE detention centers in Texas, which resulted in a strike among employees at the company’s headquarters in Boston.
Other famous stars who have collections with Wayfair include Martha Stewart, Jessica Simpson and Drew and Jonathan Scott of HGTV of “The Property Brothers”.
