Tom Hanks was one of the first celebrities to announce his positive diagnosis of COVID-19 last month. Now the actor’s son Colin Hanks is transforming his hobby of making handkerchiefs into a nationwide charity effort.
Colin followed in his father’s footsteps as an actor. In 2019, he appeared in “Jumanji: The Next Level”.
But the 42-year-old also runs a business with Hanks Kerchiefs, which sells handkerchiefs online.
Friday, Tom’s son went to his Instagram to share tips on his job. For anyone who has their own handkerchiefs, scarves or bandanas at home, Colin has provided a step-by-step tutorial on how to turn the little accessory into a seamless facial mask.
TOM HANKS AND RITA WILSON OUT OF HOSPITAL FIVE DAYS AFTER ANNOUNCEMENT OF CORONAVIRUS DIAGNOSIS: REPORT
“How to transform your handkerchief into a facial mask. Don’t forget to put your (guy) handkerchief in the washing machine afterwards!” Colin wrote on Instagram.
The post included a photo slideshow involving each step necessary to properly fold and attach the handkerchief. To make the mask, Colin asks people to put the scarf on a surface, folding the top and bottom toward the center of the fabric. Then he asks his supporters to turn the scarf over and fold the upper and lower halves to meet in the center.
Colin then places two hair ties around each side of the scarf, folding the outer sides to the center.

“This is the part that faces your mouth,” he wrote in the legend before modeling the creation.
In a second article, Colin announced that his company would join seven other brands for an online raffle called “Bandana Rama Online Draw”. In addition to Hanks Kerchiefs, a number of textile and accessory brands will sell bandanas, hats, jackets, backpacks, household items and more.

“Hanks Kerchiefs has joined a dream team of the coolest bandana brands in the country to fight food insecurity and support the vital work of food banks across the country,” said the actor.
The online raffle includes three prizes totaling $ 2,400. It started on April 3 and will continue until April 6 at midnight PST.
