Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes visited Good Morning Britain as part of WWE’s visit to the UK this week. As well as promoting a live event at the O2 Arena this evening (April 19), Rhodes spoke about his story and how it ended while sharing stories about his father, Hall of Fame member Dusty Rhodes. WWE fame.
Soon, the conversation turned to Hollywood and wrestlers who have made their way to Tinseltown, such as Dave Batista, John Cena and finally, The Rock, whose return to WWE is something the champion is looking forward to.
“He’s not my favorite person on Earth, The Rock,” Rhodes said. “But for me it’s a feeling where Hollywood, I didn’t go to Hollywood, Hollywood came to me in the form of The Rock Dwayne Johnson. And he has, what you would say… like a little obsession with me. So I’m waiting for his return.
On the post-WrestleMania episode of Raw, Rhodes and The Rock shared a tense moment in the ring where the Hollywood megastar said their story was only just beginning. Rock added that even if he had to go away for a while to film a movie, once it was finished, he would return to finish his business with Rhodes.
American Nightmare was asked directly if this fight would happen. Rhodes said yes, but such a matchup would likely be based on his performance as champion.
“I think it will really depend on whether I can be a good champion or not even a great champion. Roman Reigns was a great champion, and will that be enough to woo The Rock.
Rhodes is confident that the momentum created by himself, Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley and others could convince The Final Boss to return for another match. If it happens, it will probably happen next year. According to the on-screen ticker, Rhodes “could face rival ‘The Rock’ in 2025.”
