Casemiro finally got the chance to start a Premier League game and showed why Manchester United paid £70million to sign him away from Real Madrid.
The Brazilian midfielder had been left on the bench by Erik ten Hag in the league and the situation was starting to become a source of frustration for the fans.
Ten Hag had preferred the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred at the heart of the Red Devils midfield as his new signing picked up speed.
When he started the game against Everton on Sunday night, he produced a brilliant performance which tipped the balance in favor of the Red Devils.
Casemiro provided former Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo with an assist to secure the winner, which was also the Portuguese superstar’s 700th goal for the club.
The 30-year-old made amends for his role in the Everton goal, when he was denied possession before Alex Iwobi scored.
The midfielder received the Man of the Match award and received shoutouts from his teammates as well.
Diogo Dalot posted on Instagram that Casemiro was a ‘tank’, while Ronaldo also posted a picture of the midfielder on his social media.
Ten Hag also praised Casemiro’s performance, despite the early error that allowed Everton to score.
He told BT Sport: “He will anticipate quickly. You saw during the match how important it is, it is composed of winning a lot of balls, also winning the ball for Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal.
“He grew in the game, good performance.”
