The NFL’s 103rd season begins Thursday night at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, next to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. soccer zebras confirmed that Carl Cheffers, entering his 23rd season and 15th as a referee, will don the white hat in the first preseason game of 2022 between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Las Vegas Raiders. He will lead a mixed team for the game. Thursday night’s game will air on NBC starting at 8 p.m. ET.
This year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame Game co-ed team will feature the longest-serving official in each position, with a combined 181 seasons in the NFL among the seven men.
This is Cheffers’ second assignment to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game; he was the referee for the 2015 edition between the Steelers and the Vikings. This is the first game brothers Carl and Perry Paganelli will officiate together since Super Bowl XLI.
