On Friday, two senior Apple officials visited the victims of last week’s crash at an Apple Store in Hingham, which killed a man and injured at least 19 others, officials said.
Apple CEO Tim Cook and Deirdre O’Brien, the company’s senior vice president of retail and people, met some of the survivors at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on Friday, the agency said. hospital in a statement Saturday.
“We are grateful that Apple’s Tim Cook and Deirdre O’Brien were able to come to South Shore Hospital on Friday to visit some of the patients who were injured in last week’s tragedy at the Apple Store in Hingham,” said Allen Smith, chairman. and CEO of South Shore Health, said in the statement.
Last Monday, a sports utility vehicle drove through the glass front of the Derby Street Shops Apple Store. New Jersey resident Kevin Bradley, 65, an employee of GMS Construction, who was helping with construction work at the store, was killed. At least 19 other people were injured.
The driver, Bradley Rein, 53, of Hingham, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide by careless driving and careless operation of a motor vehicle. A plea of not guilty was entered in his name when he was arraigned in Hingham District Court on Tuesday.
South Shore Hospital officials said they treated 18 of the crash victims. As of Thursday morning, one remained in intensive care and eight remained admitted to other areas of the hospital, according to a Thursday statement.
“We are also very grateful for the wonderful care our entire team provided to these patients, from our EMS at the accident scene to the emergency room, the trauma and intensive care teams and all the doctors , nurses and colleagues who provided care and support,” Smith said in Saturday’s statement.
“The genuine care and kindness that Tim and his team showed during this visit did so much to lift the spirits of the patients and our colleagues.”
