An user on Twitter whose tweet was shared by 9to5Mac was able to add their Banregio card to the Wallet app after defining their region in the United States. The card could be successfully added and text was included for verification, but the verification process did not work because “Apple Pay” was not officially launched in the country.
Cards from banks other than Banregio could not be added to the Wallet application on the “iPhone”, suggesting that “Apple Pay” in Mexico could be limited to Banregio at launch.
When “Apple Pay” is launched in Mexico, it will be the second Latin American country to support the payment service. Apple launched “Apple Pay” in Brazil in 2018, but has not extended it to other Latin American countries. “Apple Pay” has also been available in the United States and Canada for years.
Apple maintains a comprehensive list of countries where “Apple Pay” is available on its support site, and we have a detailed overview of Apple Pay with everything you need to know about Apple’s payment service.
