Leeds United have temporarily moved their women’s and Academy teams away from their main training ground at Thorp Arch due to the threat of coronavirus.
On Sunday, it was reported that 211 people in the UK now hold COVID-19, and as many companies are looking for solutions to help stop the spread, the championships have taken decisive action.
A statement posted on the official Leeds website said: “Due to the increased threat posed by COVID-19, we have made the decision to temporarily relocate our female team, as well as our Academy teams, to new facilities for train with immediate effect.
“We believe that the fact that the installation is shared with our first team leaves us no other choice than to take this measure, to protect Marcelo Bielsa’s team against any risk of contact with anyone who has contracted the virus. “
“The U23 and U18 teams will continue to use Thorp Arch for the time being, but any other risk could cause these teams to stay away as well. All non-essential visitors will be prohibited.
“We currently have no date for resumption of normal service, but rest assured that we will work with the authorities to speed up the process while preserving everyone’s safety.”
Leeds are now leading the championship by one point, ahead of rival West Bromwich Albion, after beating Huddersfield 2-0 at Elland Road.
They are also seven points ahead of Fulham’s third place and therefore hope for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
