Like almost all the fans watching UFC 248 on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan really loved the knockout of Drakkar Klose by Beneil Dariush.
However, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who loved him as much as the former heavyweight world champion, who literally fell on the knees of his co-commentator on the stand.
The fight was entertaining from the very first horn, with Klose picking up a huge right hand in the opening trade and apparently angering the 30-year-old.
Dariush had Klose in a crank while backpacking from the Michigan native and desperately trying to get the submission.
But it was on the second round that the action really started because the two men decided to get up and exchange and follow each other through the cage with bad intentions, but it was Dariush who may have landed the softest left hand of his career to end the fight and produce a magnificent knockout.
Before Klose even had a chance to hit the web, Rogan and Cormier were out of breath as they struggled to contain their excitement at seeing a plan so perfectly placed, so he even dropped the guard – teeth of Klose.
All night was a real entertainment spectacle until the main event, Israel Adesanya managed to hold onto their world middleweight title against Yoel Romero in a fight that never started.
However, the co-main event turned out to be one, if not the biggest, women’s fight in the history of the company.
Zhang Weili defended his straw champion title against Joanna Jedrzejczyk through five thrilling but exhausting rounds at the T-Mobile Arena in a unanimous decision.
