Unofficial renders of Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphones suggest it may be about to ditch the camera bumps seen on this year’s Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus. Instead, renders released by OnLeaks via Figure and SmartPrice claim that the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus will simply have three protruding camera lenses, with no raised section between them. It’s a design that resembles this year’s Galaxy S22 Ultra, but with one less camera sensor.
Elsewhere, the rumored specs of the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus are broadly similar to this year’s phones. The S23 is expected to have a 6.1-inch screen, while the S23 Plus might have a larger 6.6-inch screen. Both are again expected to have three cameras, although the exact camera specs are unclear. In the US, both will almost certainly be powered by Qualcomm’s 2023 flagship processor, likely to be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Although the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus come across as iterative upgrades over this year’s models, the same can’t be said for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which reportedly uses a much higher resolution camera sensor than the S22 Ultra. A report from August suggests it will feature Samsung’s new 200-megapixel sensor, which should result in more detailed photos compared to the S22 Ultra’s 108-megapixel component.
There’s no word on pricing or release dates, but Samsung tends to announce its latest flagship handsets early in the year. The S22 series was announced in February, while the S21 was announced in January 2021. That means the Galaxy S23 lineup is likely still a few months away, with plenty of time for more details to leak.
