Tyson Fury may have his sights set on Derek Chisora but his dad John Fury wants him to face Oleksandr Usyk’s winner against Anthony Joshua 2.
Yesterday Fury announced he would come out of his brief retirement to take on Chisora in a trilogy bout, with the duo having previously met twice in 2011 and 2014 and ‘The Gypsy King’ having won both times.
While boxing fans will no doubt be thrilled to see Fury back, even though no one really seemed to believe he was gone for good, he’s not the opponent people had in mind for his comeback.
The fight everyone wants to see is Fury vs. Usyk’s winner against Joshua 2 for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
Tyson’s father, John, is among those who want to see ‘The Gypsy King’ prove himself the number one heavyweight of this era against Usyk’s winner against Joshua 2.
“If Joshua gets the win, then it’s all up in the game, isn’t it,” John told talkSPORT. “Even I would like [Tyson] to do that, I would force him to do it.
“And Usyk, why not? He can beat them both at a gallop so why not?
John then shared his prediction for the heavyweight rematch and on this occasion he supports his fellow Brit.
“Don’t be surprised if AJ pulls it off,” John said, “I have a sneaky feeling again that AJ is going to do it and he has this remarkable way of bouncing back, doesn’t he.”
John isn’t alone in this feeling, as Joshua himself has described himself as the ‘comeback king’ and he believes he has what it takes to right the wrongs of his first fight with Usyk and win. a win in the rematch.
Following their September 2021 clash, Joshua was widely criticized for his game plan of trying to out one of the most technically gifted boxers on the planet.
In the rematch, however, Joshua insisted he would change tactics, using his physical attributes to his advantage and going for the knockout.
