SIMON FERRY believes Rangers will progress in the Champions League highlighting the impact of a return game at Ibrox.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side trail Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0 after the first leg in Belgium, requiring them to put on a major performance to qualify for the play-off round.
But Open Goal host Ferry – who came through Celtic’s youth ranks – believes the atmosphere at Ibrox could tip the crucial tie.
Speaking on behalf of Grosvenor Sport, Ferry explained: “Rangers cannot afford to lose the second leg and I have no doubt that with the way they played at Ibrox last year as well as the atmosphere, they will pass.”
The Open Goal boss Broomhill then added that Rangers still need a “bedding period” before finding their best form this season as he drew comparisons to Celtic last term.
Citing major transfer deals with Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo leaving the club with a number of receipts, Ferry insisted the team needed time to gel.
“Rangers can turn things around. Losing Aribo and Calvin Bassey is huge and it will take time to rebuild. New players need time to get to know each other and we saw that in the first leg.
“I think it’s a matter of bedding in the period for Rangers. We saw that with Celtic last year and it took them a while to get into their groove.”
