Taylor Swift is adding more accolades to her already impressive lineup.
The “Blank Space” singer is set to receive an honorary degree from New York University, the school announced Monday.
A press release says Swift, 32, will receive an honorary doctorate of fine arts and address the graduates at a launch event on May 18 at Yankee Stadium.
The degree will be Swift’s first as she was already touring and writing hit songs by the time she graduated from high school.
NYU hailed Swift as “one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation” in its press release, noting that she is the only female artist to win Album of the Year three times at the Grammys.
The university also pointed out that she is the only solo artist this century to have three albums hit No. 1 in one year.
The exciting news comes after Swift released her own rendition of her acclaimed album “Red” in November 2021.
It included a 10-minute version of “All Too Well”, supposedly written about ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. Naturally, the Swifties took to social media to rehash their thoughts on Swift’s brief relationship with the “Nightcrawler” star in 2010.
Gyllenhaal, 41, later addressed the issue of ‘cyberbullying’ in an interview with Esquire – believed he hadn’t mentioned Swift by name.
“At some point, I think it’s important when fans become unruly that we feel responsible for requiring them to be civil and not allow cyberbullying on their behalf,” he said on last month. “[It’s] a conversation that allows us to consider how we can – or even should – take responsibility for what we put into the world, for our contributions to the world.
He continued: “My question is: is this our future? Are anger and division our future? Or can we be empowered and empower others while simultaneously bringing empathy and civility into the mainstream conversation? This is the discussion we should be having.
