While wallpapering a powder room isn’t a revolutionary idea, any compact space—corners, mudrooms, mudrooms, butler’s pantry—can benefit from a dose of pattern. “Wallpaper can really transform a small room or an afterthought into something special,” says Liz Levin, an interior designer based in Washington, D.C.. “It’s a big brushstroke that makes magic.”
Levin says such spaces are ripe for wallpaper experimentation. “These aren’t places where people spend a lot of time, so there’s less chance they’ll get tired of that pattern,” she says. “And because these rooms tend to be smaller, you’ll spend less on materials.” When it comes to scale, don’t be afraid to go big in a small space: Professionals say it can actually make a small room feel bigger.
