“I am still shocked to learn of the death of Zach Cooper,” said UH coach Ronald Hughey in a statement. “Zach was everyone’s family here at the University of Houston, especially me and my staff. He was an extremely caring person who did everything he could to help others.
“I hope we will always remember how loyal and caring Zach was and how dear he was to his family. We had so much fun together and we loved each other during the good times and we supported each other during the difficult times. My prayers go out to his family and friends during this time. “
Cooper graduated from Central College (Iowa) in 2010. He received a master’s degree in education from Arkansas in 2014.
