Will Smith fans weren’t happy when The Hollywood Reporter put his name on the same list as Brad Pitt who was accused of abusing his wife and children.
The outlet rounded up the names of all the stars whose off-screen behavior affected their chances of winning an Oscar.
Separated from King Richard the actor and the High-speed train star, Casey Affleck, Letitia Wright, Roman Polanski and Woody Allen made the article.
The author of the article received backlash on the list because social media users believe Smith’s name should not be mentioned in an article alongside an “abuser”.
“Comparing Will Smith and Letitia Wright to quite the abuser is mean,” wrote a fan of the actor on Twitter. “Hollywood Reporter, you should all be ashamed of yourselves.”
“Nothing but Letitia Wright or Will Smith justified comparing them to a man who abused [sic] his wife and children, a pedophile and a man known to abuse women in the industry,” another tweet read.
“Pitt, Polanski and Weinstein are terrible human beings who deserve to rot in hell,” he added.
“I would also like to add that adding Will Smith here for a slap in the face when Pitt and the others are accused of ongoing violent domestic violence was also A CHOICE,” one user said.
For the uninitiated, Will Smith made headlines after he slapped Chris Rock on stage during the 2022 Oscars for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
On the other hand, Angelina Jolie has accused Brad Pitt of physically assaulting her and their children during their now infamous robbery in 2016.
