Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, one of Hollywood’s most famous actor-director duos, are set to team up again for their seventh feature film collaboration. Their previous collaborations resulted in cinematic gems such as Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island and The Wolf of Wall Street. Their latest joint venture, Killers of the Flower Moon, received widespread critical acclaim and garnered an impressive 10 Academy Award nominations. This time they will also be joined by actress Jennifer Lawrence. Now, Scorsese and DiCaprio’s highly anticipated next project is making news.
As Variety reports, Scorsese’s next film would be a biopic of the iconic Frank Sinatra, with DiCaprio playing the legendary singer. Alongside him in this film, Jennifer Lawrence, who will play Sinatra’s second wife, the famous actress Ava Gardner.
This film would mark the seventh collaboration between Scorsese and DiCaprio, and the second time DiCaprio and Lawrence have shared the screen. They worked together earlier in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up. This will notably be Lawrence’s first collaboration with the famous director.
Martin Scorsese, 81, shows no signs of slowing down, as he reportedly plans to make two films back to back. The first of these would be a film based on a 1973 book called A Life of Jesus by Shusaku Endo. It will be followed by the Frank Sinatra biopic.
This film will center on iconic figure Francis Albert Sinatra, the Chairman of the Board and Ol’ Blue Eyes. Sinatra, American singer and actor, remains one of the most beloved artists of the mid-20th century. His lasting legacy includes approximately 150 million record sales worldwide.
Some of his timeless classics such as Fly Me to the Moon, My Way and The Way You Look Tonight remain popular to this day. The legendary singer died on May 14 at the age of 82.
Despite the anticipation, it may still be a while before the film comes to life. According to Variety, the singer’s daughter Tina, who currently looks after her father’s estate, has not yet approved the film.
