Former New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski was certainly himself when he took the mound to throw out the first pitch for the Boston Red Sox on Monday.
Before the team’s annual Patriots Day game, Gronkowski took his place on the mound and accomplished the task as only the Patriots legend could. Instead of even attempting a throw, Gronkowski hit the baseball — a nod to his classic throw made whenever he scored a touchdown throughout his NFL career.
Gronkowski had been the grand marshal of the Boston Marathon, which began Monday morning.
Gronkowski will always be remembered in the New England area for his larger than life personality and for being one of the best tight ends in NFL history. He’s had quite a bit of practice when it comes to his patented spike as he scored 93 career touchdowns during his 11 seasons with the Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
