Trader Joe’s has issued a recall of fresh basil sold to customers in 29 states and Washington, D.C. over a two-month period after federal investigators discovered a link between the herb and a multistate salmonella outbreak.
The grocery chain has voluntarily removed the product from its shelves and is warning customers to throw away or return to the store any 2.5-ounce plastic clamshell packages with a label reading Infinite Herbs Organic Basil if they purchased them between February 1 and April 6. The potentially contaminated products were sold to customers in Washington, D.C., as well as Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri , Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin.
