Here’s a wine for your spring and summer celebrations: a sublime sparkling rosé from Austria that’s worthy of a splurge. Winemaker Fred Loimer crafts his Reserve Brust Rosé with Austrian grape varieties and a dose of Pinot Noir to make a cheerful sparkling wine that will enhance any special occasion. We also have an Italian Verdicchio and an Oregon Pinot Noir for a more casual tasting experience.

Castelgufo Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi 2021

(3 stars)

Italy’s diversity of delicious white wine varietals tends to be overshadowed by the popularity of the country’s red wines. Verdicchio is a fantastic partner for fish, especially on hot days when we fire up the grill for something hearty, or opt for a cool, refreshing seafood salad instead. Expect aromas of peach blossom and honeysuckle over flavors of apricot and wild sage. Certified sustainable. Alcohol by volume: 13 percent. Bottle weight: 410 grams (Light).

Jezebel is a label from Willful Wine Co. of Oregon, designed in a fruity style. Black cherries and blackberries seasoned with baking spices kiss the palate with a chewy texture and a juicy, jammy finish. ABV: 13.5 percent. Body weight: 480 grams (light).

Distributed locally by Salveto.

Loimer Brut Rosé Réserve Sekt

(4 stars)

This sparkling rosé is simply scintillating. A blend of zweigelt, pinot noir and Saint-Laurent, it glows a pale pink in the glass with a constant bead of bubbles, offering a floral nose, as well as flavors of fresh berries and cream on almond cake . This can proudly compete with more expensive champagnes. Certified organic. ABV: 12 percent. PC: 860 grams (Sparkling).

Imported by Vineyard Brands. Distributed locally by Breakthru Beverage, RNDC.

Prices are approximate. For availability, check Vin.com, Wine-searcher.com as well as the websites and social media feeds of wineries, importers, distributors and your favorite local wine store. You can also ask your local retailer to order wines from the distributors listed. Bottle weight is included because it is the most important factor contributing to the carbon footprint of wine. ★ Good: The wine keeps its promises at a fair price. If it says chardonnay, it tastes like chardonnay.

★★ Excellent: A wine with added character and interest. Can lift your eyebrows from the first sip.

★★★ Extraordinary: An exciting wine that stands out from others in its category. It feels good to pump your fist and hit the table.

★★★★ Sublime: From another world. You may have thought, “So that’s what they were talking about.” »
