Tennessee’s preseason basketball fan celebration is back and it’s got a new name.
UT Athletics announced Market Square Madness on Tuesday, an event for fans to see the Vols and Lady Vols on Thursday, October 13. Tennessee hasn’t held a preseason basketball fan event since Rocky Top Tip-off, which ran for three seasons before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the event in 2020. But instead To host the event at Thompson-Boling Arena, the basketball teams head to Market Square.

The event starts at 8 p.m., but fans can show up as early as 7 p.m. to take photos with Smokey and the Tennessee spirit teams, get faces painted and play field contests. Following the performance by the Tennessee Dance Team, DJ Sterl will present the Vols and Lady Vols 2022-23. Players will then compete in various skill challenges with fan contests throughout the event, which concludes with a fireworks display at 9 p.m.
Admission is free and fans are encouraged to park in the surrounding car parks, which will also be free after 7 p.m.
The Lady Vols will kick off the season with a home exhibition game against Carson Newman on October 30 while the Vols open the season against Tennessee Tech on November 7 at Thompson-Boling Arena.
