Two hours after the release of her highly anticipated album “The Tortured Poets Department”, Taylor Swift announced a big surprise: it is a double album.
“I’ve been writing so much tortured poetry over the past 2 years and I wanted to share it all with you, so here is the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 more songs,” Swift posted on Instagram at 2 a.m. ET. “And now the story is no longer mine…it’s all yours.”
The surprise 2 a.m. drop may not have been that shocking to all fans, as the pop star started subtly hinting at the timing a few days ago. First, inside the Spotify Library installation promoting the release of The Department of Tortured Poets at the Grove in Los Angeles, Swift left her first Easter egg: The clock on the mantle was set for 2 p.m., and among the trinkets was a peace sign. Then, on Wednesday, Swift released a teaser video that charts the transition from her “Midnights” days to the “Department of Tortured Poets.” The clip begins with a clock set to 2:00. And finally, just as Swift released the album at midnight on Friday, a mysterious two-hour countdown appeared hidden on her Instagram profile.
Below is the tracklist for the second surprise album:
“The Black Dog”
“Imgonnagetyouback”
“The Albatross”
“Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus”
“How did it end?”
“So high school”
“I hate it here”
“Thank you my love”
“I look in people’s windows.”
“The prophecy”
“Cassandra”
“Rock”
“The Bolter”
“Robin”
“The manuscript”
