Ben & Ben is expected to release a new single called “Doors” on April 16, 2020 via Sony Music. To celebrate the release, the nine-person collective will host a special YouTube Live event on April 18, 2020 on the group’s YouTube channel to raise funds for the response to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Philippines.
Fans around the world can log in from 7:00 p.m. GMT + 8 (9:00 p.m. EST / 7:00 a.m. EST / 12:00 p.m. BST) to watch the famous nine-piece piece perform “Doors” alongside other tracks from their first Platinum certified album and best-seller 2019 “LIMASAWA STREET” Including the recent “Fall”.
Each member of the group will connect from their respective homes to broadcast the performance in their unique 3 × 3 format. After the event, the live broadcast will continue to be available on YouTube as video on demand.
According to members of Ben & Ben, “Doors” is one of the most personal songs they have written. In a statement, the group explained: “This is passive aggression, how it can ruin relationships and how anyone can be at the end of sending or receiving.”
“Much of the suffering in the world today, which we all suffer from on a daily basis as well, is caused by people who do not say what is really on their minds,” said Ben & Ben. “We drew on our emotions on these subjects to create the melodies, riffs, rhythms and textures of the song. It was done so quickly. “
“One day we scrambled the song, and a few days after we already recorded the song,” the group continued. “Everyone just executed their rawest and purest feelings to make the arrangement.”
“Doors” was mixed by Miles Walker, Grammy-winning engineer, and mastered by Leon Zervos. The first worked with Beyonce, Usher, Coldplay and Rihanna while the second worked with P! Nk, Maroon 5, Beastie Boys and Willy Nelson.
Bernadette Nacario, National Director of Google Philippines, said that YouTube was proud to partner with Sony Music to allow Ben & Ben to broadcast an event which aims to create a donation campaign for COVID-19 response efforts. On March 27, 2020, the group hosted a Facebook Live event for its COVID-19 donation site (www.puhon.ph), which garnered 2.2 million views in the first 24 hours, exceeding Facebook Live statistics Latin superstars Alejandro Sanz and Juanes.
The donation site was created by Ben & Ben, Sony Music Philippines and other partners, with inspirational stories and messages of encouragement to frontliners. Puhon is a beautiful word Visayan which means “hopefully” and is a famous song by Ben & Ben.
“It is instructive to see the power of music and the Filipino spirit of Bayanihan come together to lend a hand during this increasingly difficult time,” said Nacario. “We hope the Ben & Ben event will not only help raise funds, but inspire Filipinos to get through difficult times with music.
Ben & Ben is made up of brothers Paolo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin on acoustic guitar and vocals, Poch Barretto on electric guitar, Jam Villanueva on drums, Agnes Reoma on bass, Patricia Lasaten on keyboards, Toni Munoz and Andrew de Pano on percussion and Keifer Cabugao on violin. Combining folk and indie music with pop sensibilities, they redefined the dominant music track with a sound that links musical traditions from the past with a contemporary twist. And that’s what sets them apart from their peers: Ben & Ben creates a plan that makes intimacy feel great and expansive.
Throughout 2020, Ben & Ben will continue to release music and the group plans to visit their incredible live set again when possible. Attention to this link for their launch “Doors”:
