Chinese technology company Huawei has unveiled a new smart driving brand.
Huawei, which is the world’s largest supplier of telecommunications equipment, said the new brand will be called Qiankun.
Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution (IAS) business unit, said: “2024 will be the first year of mass commercialization of intelligent driving and the cumulative number of cars on the road equipped with Huawei’s autonomous driving system will exceed 500,000 by now. the end of the year,” reports Reuters.
Qiankun will strengthen the intelligence of the driving chassis, audio and driver’s seat, he added.
Huawei’s smart car unit launched in 2019, with ambitions to become the equivalent of German auto supplier Bosch, but for smart electric vehicles.
Huawei announced last November that the unit would be split into a new joint company that would receive the unit’s core technologies and resources and welcome investments from partners such as automaker Changan Auto, which would own up to 40 %.
