Samsung is preparing for the stable launch of One UI 5.0 software based on Android 13. The company has already released One UI 5.0 Beta on Galaxy A52, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22. It also updates its stock apps to run better on Android 13.
The South Korean company has now released an update to Samsung Health to support themed icons on devices running Android 13. Since Google Pixel smartphones, the OnePlus 10 Pro, and various Galaxy phones are already running Android 13 ( at least in beta), Samsung Health can now display a themed icon, matching the device’s wallpaper and theme.
Samsung Health already supported themed icons, but it only worked on the standard Samsung launcher. With the latest update, the app can display a themed icon (in both dark and light themes) on any Android device running Android 13. You can see it changing color based on the wallpaper in the screenshot below. The app uses a darker shade of the chosen color in dark mode.
The company has also unlocked support for Google’s Health Connect API. The service was announced a few months ago as a hub for moving data between various health and fitness apps and devices. Only a handful of apps currently support the Health Connect feature, but we could see wider adoption over the next few months.
