The Premier League season may be underway, but Chelsea are far from over the summer transfer window.
The takeover of the club by Todd Boehly, and the sanctions that preceded it, set the Blues back as the summer market approached but Thomas Tuchel’s side did their best to make up for lost time.
The club have made two star signings in Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, and both players are expected to have a big impact at the club.
And Chelsea have also added Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka and Marc Cucurella who arrived from Brighton last week.
While Tuchel’s side got off to a winning start against Everton on the opening weekend of the season, they won’t panic in the transfer market, but they could look very different on September 1.
Currently, the Blues are set for a massive triple swoop with Frenkie de Jong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Wesley Fofana all lined up.
And with this trio in the starting XI, you’re starting to think they might just take on Man City and Liverpool for the Premier League title.
Edouard Mendy is expected to be Chelsea’s top marksman for years to come, but he could have a new defense ahead of him with the arrival of Frenchman Fofana.
Thiago Silva is undoubtedly the best defender at the club but with the 37-year-old not getting any younger it means he might need a bit of support.
Koulibaly and Cesar Azpilicueta will continue to be first-team regulars, while Chelsea are hoping to secure a deal for Leicester star Fofana, the 21-year-old arguably the hottest young defensive talent in the Premier League.
N’Golo Kante and Jorginho will undoubtedly continue to be key players at the heart of Chelsea’s midfield, but a sensational diversion from Man United’s move for Frenkie de Jong could add some real quality to the middle of the park.
De Jong would add a crucial technical quality to the midfield, allowing the club’s attacking talent to really flourish.
Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount will have a big role to play in the final third of this season, with a new striker reportedly the club’s top priority in the remaining weeks of the window.
Aubameyang appears to be the primary transfer target for Chelsea given that Robert Lewandowski’s arrival has seen him drop out of the pecking order at Camp Nou.
If the Blues manage to strike a deal, he could be a deadly addition to the club’s new squad, especially given his previous Premier League experience with Arsenal.
