Stock up on sunscreen: “The White Lotus” returns for a third season. On November 18, HBO announced that the hit series had been renewed for its second season, which is set in Sicily, Italy. In the announcement, the network said the third installment would follow “a new set of guests at another White Lotus property,” though it didn’t specify where in the world that property might be. It also didn’t reveal if Jennifer Coolidge would reprise her role as Tanya – the only main character to appear in the show’s two seasons so far.
“Reflecting on the humble run-and-gun origin of ‘The White Lotus’ as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be amazed at how [creator Mike White] orchestrated one of the most hyped and critically acclaimed shows. And yet, it only continued to reach new heights in the second season, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw and unrivaled vision,” said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of Programming. of HBO, head of HBO’s Drama Series and Movies, in a statement, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have the chance to collaborate on a third season together.”
White also added, “There’s no place I’d rather work than HBO and there’s no one I’d rather associate with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their incredible team. I I feel so lucky to have this opportunity again and I’m thrilled to reunite with my incredibly talented cast on ‘The White Lotus’.”
The series’ first season premiered in July 2021 and won ten Emmys at this year’s awards show. The second season premiered on October 30 and will end in December. It stars Coolidge, Aubrey Plaza, Michael Imperioli, Meghann Fahy, Theo James, Haley Lu Richardson and Tom Hollander. HBO has yet to announce a release date for the new season, but, presumably, we can expect it next year or early 2024.
