I made a big mistake. I updated my iMac 21.5 Late 2013 (14.3) to Monterey 12.5 with the legacy Open Core patcher. Unfortunately I did not receive the latest copy of the patcher but an old one so I was stuck in the login screen as described in the Open Core website.
Trying to fix the problem, I booted into safe mode and downloaded the latest version of the patch (which will disable GPU acceleration, waiting for a new version that MAY be able to re-enable the GPU).
I ran the open-core-patcher and chose “post install root patch”, “revert root patches” (in my mind it was needed to remove the old bad patch). Then restarted in safe mode, relaunched open-core-patcher, “post installation root patch”, and finally “start root patching”.
But now Monterey is not loading. I can’t get to the login screen. I get the Apple logo and the bar stop ca. at 33% a gel.
I can only run the imac in safe mode?
Any suggestion? How can apply the new patch?
If not, is there a way to downgrade to Monterey 12.4 without losing data and apps? I don’t have a backup time machine…
Thanks a lot guys!
