Kelly Clarkson covered Miley Cyrus And Stevie Nicks‘2020 hit “Edge of Midnight” during the “Kellyoke” segment of a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Clarkson, wearing a black leather skirt and vintage clothing Billy Joel concert tee, delivered the lead single from Miley’s seventh studio album, Plastic hearts.
“Yeah, it’s been a long night and the mirror is telling me to go home/ But it’s been a long time since I felt this good on my own/ Many years have passed with my hands tied in your ropes / Forever and ever, no more,” Clarkson sang before launching into the self-assured chorus.
“I was born to run, I don’t belong to anyone, oh no/I don’t need to be loved by you,” she sang with the backup singers providing emotional support. “Fire in my lungs, I can’t bite the devil on my tongue, oh no/I don’t need to be loved by you.”
“Edge of Midnight” reached number 14 on the chart Billboard Hot 100 in December 2020.
