The pop star’s third studio album, “Hit Me Hard And Soft,” is set to arrive on May 17. When announcing the 10-track project, Eilish said she wanted fans to experience it “all at once.”

However, the singer has since previewed three songs – “L’Amour De Ma Vie”, “Chihiro” and “Lunch” – during a surprise DJ set at Coachella 2024.

In a new cover interview with rolling stoneEilish explained why she changed her approach to dropping music for this album launch.

“I don’t like singles from albums,” she told the publication. “Whenever an artist I like releases a single without the context of the album, I already tend to hate it. I really don’t like it when things are out of context.

She continued: “This album is like a family: I don’t want a little kid to be alone in the middle of the room.”

The interviewer later accepted Eilish’s decision after performing to “Hit Me Hard And Soft.” Later, the star’s brother and collaborator Finneas said the LP’s opening song was “a total false promise.”

“If you remember “What was I made for?” » and then you hear [it], you say, “Oh, okay. I understand this world,” he added.

“Then the drums come in [on ‘Lunch’], and it’s definitely the kill-the-main-character type beat. It’s like Drew Barrymore was in the first five minutes of Shout and then they kill her. You’re like, “They can’t kill Drew.” Oh, my God, they killed Drew!’

Elsewhere in the interview, Eilish opened up about her body dysmorphia, sharing that “self-pleasure” helped her feel “empowered and comfortable.”

Following her comments about the lack of sustainability in the vinyl world, Eilish confirmed that physical copies of “Hit Me Hard And Soft” will be made from 100% recyclable materials. Check out the full album tracklist here and visit here to pre-order.

Separately, Eilish opened up about her appearance on Lana Del Rey’s set at Coachella, calling it a “hallucination.”
