Scarlett Johansson has reportedly been offered the lead role in Gareth Edwards’ new film. Jurassic world movie.
According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Johansson has the opportunity to star in the new Jurassic World movie, which is scheduled for release in 2025. Johansson has not officially accepted the offer at this time; however, according to Sneider, she met Edwards and producer Frank Marshall at least once.
Johansson is known for playing Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She has also starred in films such as 2006’s The Prestige, 2013’s Under the Skin, 2013’s Her, 2014’s Lucy, 2017’s Ghost in the Shell, 2019’s Marriage Story, and 2023’s Asteroid City, among others.
She will soon be seen in Project Artemis, a Greg Berlanti-directed film about the 1960s space race that also stars Channing Tatum and Ray Romano, as well as Kristin Scott Thomas’ North Star. She also voices Elita One in the upcoming Transformers One animated film.
What do we know about the new Jurassic World movie?
In February 2025, Universal announced that a new Jurassic World film was in the works. Deadpool 2’s David Leitch was initially considered to direct the film; however, he withdrew from the project days after its announcement due to creative differences.
Edwards – known for 2014’s Godzilla, 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and 2023’s The Creator – was tapped to direct the film a few weeks later.
David Koepp, who wrote The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997, is currently writing the screenplay for the new Jurassic World film. Plot details remain under wraps for now, although it’s said to kick off a “new Jurassic era” that likely won’t include returning characters.
Filming on the new Jurassic World movie is expected to begin later this year. It is currently scheduled for release on July 2, 2025 by Universal.
