Huawei unveiled its super interesting new flagship smartphone this week, but around the corner is still the new “Watch Fit 3”, which in no way hides the fact that it is a clear clone of the Apple Watch.
Smartwatch designs vary widely between manufacturers, especially in the world of Wear OS, but Huawei’s next smartwatch clearly takes inspiration from the market leader.
Images of the Huawei Watch Fit 3 were shared by WinFuture Roland Quandt on Twitter/X today before the release of the smartwatch. The watch has a square shape with thin bezels, rounded corners and two buttons on the right side – a rotating crown and a physical button. It also features a strip that connects without traditional lugs.
If this looks familiar, it’s because these are all design features of the Apple Watch and the actual images are also even closer to Apple’s design.
However, whenever it does debut, the Huawei Watch Fit 3 will likely be a shell of the Apple Watch in terms of software capabilities (or even a modern Wear OS watch, for that matter).
Huawei’s “Watch Fit” line is more focused on fitness tracking than smartwatch tasks. It runs a stripped-down version of HarmonyOS with support for some apps, fitness and sleep tracking, and sending notifications and calls from your phone. The Huawei Watch Fit 2 is said to last up to 10 days on a charge.
It’s unclear when the Watch Fit 3 will debut, but it likely won’t be officially sold in the US market.
