After Huawei faced the US ban, which caused a series of unstoppable problems for the brand, the Chinese manufacturer is refusing to distribute banger products like the Huawei MateBook 14 2020.
The Huawei MateBook 14 2020 AMD launched just over a month ago, on the heels of the brand’s struggle to create products.
The 2020 MateBook 14 isn’t a fancy game or laptop; it ranks only as an UltraBook, intended for users of all types.
In addition, its simple and minimalist design is aimed at the majority of the population. The size and thickness make the laptop a perfect fit for travel.
MateBook 14 2020: Specifications
Until the previous generation models, the MateBook could only be gotten in the Intel Core-i5 or Core-i7 variants, but the model released in 2020 comes with AMD Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 processors.
On the other hand, the storage can range from 8GB or 16GB of RAM, coupled with 256GB or 512GB of primary storage.
The 2020 MateBook 14 also comes with a 56Wh battery and a 65W charger, according to GSM Arena.
Design
The 2020 MateBook 14 is a very minimalist laptop. It only has an aluminum body available in space gray color.
The laptop weighs 1.49 kilograms, which makes it very easy to carry. However, the weight is not evenly distributed, so it can be difficult to hold it with one hand. The same uneven weight distribution also requires both hands to open the device.
As for the screen, Huawei provided a 14 inch 2160x1440px IPS LCD touchscreen with an aspect ratio of 3: 2.
The device’s touchscreen is fantastic, but it forced Huawei to use a glossy screen, making the laptop the worst tool in bright conditions.
Review
Due to the high quality design of the MateBook 14 2020, the laptop body has no flex, which makes it a great typing experience.
On the flip side, the trackpad feels slightly unstable, according to a report from Android Authority.
Geekbench scores show that the 2020 MateBook 14 is a powerful device capable of producing high quality performance.
While the processor scores are impressive, the laptop isn’t primarily designed for gaming, as evidenced by the lack of a discrete GPU.
The device relies on the robust graphics part of its processor for gaming. In addition, the lines of distinction between play and productivity are widening.
According to sources, productivity-related tasks give around 6 hours of usage while games provide 45 minutes of usage.
For the starting price of 849 euros, the 2020 MateBook 14 is a serious contender against the lights of Apple MacBook Air and Dell XPS 13.
