Scotsman Martin Laird passed out after a poor final round as Viktor Hovland claimed his first PGA Tour title at the Puerto Rico Open.
Laird, 37, started an offshore shot from overnight leader Hovland, but got a 75-card over par to place sixth overall.
Hovland, 22, sank a 25-foot birdie putt in the final hole to take victory over American Josh Teater in one fell swoop.
“It’s amazing, a special feeling,” said the Norwegian.
Hovland led by three shots at the turn but triple bogey the 11th par par three after needing three shots just to reach the fringe of the green.
“I’m just afraid of flaking,” he said. “I really need to work on my short game and I was definitely exposed there.”
However, Hovland then fell for the eagle in the 15th before hitting his winning putt to finish away from Teater with 20 points under after a lap of 70.
