Houston downtown – Fans say there is so much to be excited about, but the most exciting part would be one of the Texas teams winning the NCAA tournament after such a difficult and devastating year.
“Whose house? Coogs House!” Several students on the University of Houston campus shouted Monday.
As many students walked into the classroom, they told KPRC 2 that they were excited to see their men’s Elite 8 basketball team take on Oregon State.
“I used to go to games all the time last semester. It was so much fun. I really think this team is much better, much stronger defense, much stronger attack. But I hope we can go further than they did last year, ”said UH student Navid Hasan.
“So it’s really crazy if we really win all of this. I encourage them, ”said Harrison Young, a UH student.
The road has been quite difficult and sad for the fans this year. They say COVID-19 ended last year’s NCAA tournament, the UH men’s basketball race this year is definitely stimulating a lot.

“It’s really exciting, especially during these times. We need something to uplift us, and they made us really proud, ”said UH student Salam Havra.
“We didn’t have a tournament last year, but it’s good to have one this year. I root them ready, (and I am) to see them win it all, ”added Hasan.
Baylor’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are also still in contention.
Baylor fans say they make Houstonians proud.
“My daughter went to Baylor and my wife graduated from UH so they’re feeling pretty good. It’s a big problem. I have a son who went to Arkansas too, he’s got skin in there too, ”said Houstonian Dave Swift.
“And for me, Baylor is a big deal representing the Big 12,” said basketball fan Eric Kanter.
The official University of Houston Men’s Basketball Watch Party is held outside the George R. Brown Convention Center. The party started at 4:15 p.m.
