Jennifer Lawrence has been a leading Hollywood actress for a long time. She made her way into the list when she played the role of Katniss Everdeen in the dystopian action film series. The hunger Gamesadapted from Suzanne Collins’ novel trilogy of the same series.
THE Silver Linings Playbook The star is known for being as honest as possible, and there was a time when she made a comment that could have gotten her in trouble, like Brie Larson did when she said something similar. However, it is surprising that things did not turn out as some might have hoped.
Jennifer Lawrence got away with this comment
Although she previously played the role of the shapeshifting mutant Mystique in X-Men: First Class before starring in the first film of The hunger Games trilogy, Jennifer Lawrence gained worldwide recognition only when her role in the latter appeared. That being said, for someone as famous as her, it’s pretty surprising that she’s managed to remain so down-to-earth and genuine.
Lawrence isn’t affected by all the glitz and glamor of Hollywood just because she wanted it to be that way. Although she made many films over the years, she felt like she had lost control of her professional life. She refuses to let Hollywood rule her career instead of making it herself.
THE Mother! The actress started a production company named Excellent Cadaver with a friend. This allows her to be responsible for overseeing what happens on the big screen for audiences to consume. She doesn’t mind losing projects if it allows her to bring more diversity to her work instead of letting stories revolve around white women.
In an interview with Vanity FairWhen asked about the kind of films Excellent Cadaver wasn’t interested in making, Jennifer Lawrence responded:
“Well, that’s hard to answer, because if I answer honestly, I’ll be unemployed. I mean, haven’t we had enough stories about white women?
That’s not to say she’s not willing to make films in which a white woman is the protagonist, but she thinks there are plenty of other stories to be told.
Brie Larson was criticized for saying something similar
Brie Larson is one of the women in Hollywood who has made her position very clear on what she stands for. Apart from being an on-screen superhero, she has also stood out as one of the real-life superheroes as she has continually stood up for equality and survivors of sexual assault.
When she discussed the lack of representation among film critics while speaking to Keah Brown for an interview with Marie Claire, this has not gone down well with a particular sub-sector of society, particularly white men. That’s because Larson said the majority of reviews of her films before she made them Captain Marvel were white men.
This angered the relevant sub-sector of the company and they started leaving negative reviews on Captain Marvel on Rotten Tomatoes even before the film was released. It has become such a big problem that Rotten Tomatoes I had to disable comments.
