Hot on the heels of the Huawei MatePad Paper launch, here are reports of another E Ink tablet emerging from China. This is the Hanvon Handwriting Electronic Paper 1001 which comes with a 10.3 inch electronic paper screen. The device can work as an e-reader and can be used to read e-books or listen to audio books. Moreover, the same can work as an Android tablet and can also be used to download and install suitable apps for various tasks. It happens to be the first e-ink tablet to run Android 11.
Hanvon said that the device has a new processor specially developed for the device, which has improved the speed by 30% compared to previous models, while files open 15% faster. More importantly, the screen refresh rate has increased by 116%, which is noticeable when changing pages, browsing the web or other functionalities.
Other positives of the Hanvon 1001 include its ability to support connection with external devices such as mouse or keyboard via Bluetooth. Also, it supports pen input with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity while the line width is adjustable from 1 to 20. Hanvon said the passive electromagnetic pen does not need to be charged separately .
Another interesting feature of the device is its ability to transcribe spoken words into texts in real time. It helps to have a written record of the meeting proceedings without having to manually type a draft of it. Similarly, there is also the handwriting to text feature which can easily translate what has been written into text. Hanvon said the device supports recording, transcription and handwriting simultaneously. Additionally, users will also be able to share what they have on their screen via one-click casting.
The Hanvon 1001 will also allow editing of PDF files while the built-in OCR recognition function supports extracting texts or annotating images in a PDF file. This can be a boon for students as well as those in design or engineering. The device also supports Hanvon’s app as well as the Google Play Store. The device comes preloaded with dozens of books although one can always install the application of his choice to read or listen to the content of his desire.
All of this helps make the Hanvon 1001 a productivity aid in an office environment just as easily as it can function as an e-reader device for reading or listening to digital content.
With a keen interest in technology, I make it a point to keep up to date with the latest developments in the world of technology and gadgets. This includes smartphones or tablets, but even extends to AI and self-driving automobiles, the latter being my latest fad. In addition to writing, I like watching videos, reading, listening to music or experimenting with different recipes. Cinema is another aspect that interests me a lot and maybe I will make a film in the future.
