Allen Crabbe, who played in the NBA seven years before being abandoned last week by the Minnesota Timberwolves, was sentenced on Thursday for lesser charges after being charged with drinking and driving in West Hollywood the year last.
According to the Los Angeles County Attorney’s Office, the 27-year-old did not argue in favor of any highway protest, an offense, and was sentenced to three years of summary probation.
Crabbe was previously faced with an offense
conducts under the influence of an alcoholic drink and driving with
a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or more.
He was arrested on June 26 after an MP arrested him for
suspicion of drunk driving.
As part of his sentence, he will have to follow DUI programs for first-time offenders and drink-driving mothers, prosecutors said.
Crabbe has also been advised that he could be charged with murder if another DUI offense ends in death, the DA office said.
Crabbe, originally from Los Angeles, was playing for the Atlanta Hawks as a goaltender and attacker at the time of his arrest. But in January, the team swapped it for the Timberwolves, who decided to give it up after nine games.
It is not known whether teams will express their interest in
signing it for a new agreement.
