FLINT – The Carman-Ainsworth boys’ basketball team didn’t miss a beat on Friday after ending a 10-day COVID-19 quarantine.
The Cavaliers entered quarantine after one of the referees from their Feb.9 match against Linden tested positive for the coronavirus.
The quarantine ended on Friday and Carman-Ainsworth showed no layoff rust as they beat Midland 56-41 behind 14 points apiece by Mehki Ellison and Isaiah Jones.
The Cavs (2-0) led 25-12 at halftime and 39-22 in the fourth quarter.
Drew Barrie led Midland (2-3) with 19 points.
Linden 62, Swartz Creek 53
Like Carman-Ainsworth, Linden was playing for the first time after completing a 10-day quarantine resulting from that February 9 game. Eli Beil led the Eagles (1-1) with 15 points while Blake Lund and Matt Wisniewski added 14 each. The victory was the first for Lance Belill as Linden coach.
Goodrich 71, Brandon 29
Goodrich announced early that the Martians had come to play, scoring the game’s first 11 points en route to a 26-1 lead. The Martians took a 30-3 advantage in the second quarter. Aidan Rubio led Goodrich (4-0) with 32 points after sinking his first three 3 points in the first quarter. Tyson Davis added 17 points, four assists and four rebounds for Goodrich, Evan Williams had nine points and Davis Mohrman had seven rebounds. Damon Warren led Brandon (2-2) with 10 points and Cole Pardon had eight.
Bendle 76, Hamady 57
Bendle rebounded from his first loss of the season to Beecher behind 20 points, five assists and four rebounds from Dayton Mills. Donald Davis III scored 18 points with 17 rebounds and five assists, Kieteris Hamlet scored 14, Jalend Brock 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Emillio Riley scored nine.
Montrose 59, Saginaw Arts & Sciences 30
Montrose won his first game in four tries this season as Marcus Hosner had 14 points and 15 rebounds. Monte Missentzis led the offensive attack with 28 points and Ty Sweet added eight points and 10 rebounds. SASA is 1-1.
Fenton 52, Kearsley 50
Seth Logan led Fenton (3-1) with 28 points, scoring five 3-pointers including the one that allowed the Tigers to lead definitively in the last minute. Tyler Csintyan led Kearsley (2-2) with 19 points, Jace Chapman had 14 and Joe Coleman 12.
Armada 69, town of Imlay 41
Zack Dingwell scored 13 points to lead Imlay City (3-3). Andrew Sniesak’s 16 points led the Armada, who led 20-10 after the first quarter and 41-22 at halftime. Armada is 3-1.
New Lothrop 47, Mt. Morris 43
Matt Kieffer scored 18 points and Jayden Galloup 11 for New Lothrop, who trailed 18-14 at halftime before beating the Panthers 18-13 in the third quarter to take a one-point lead in the fourth. Angelito Sesma drove Mt. Morris (1-3) with 11 points. New Lothrop is 2-1.
Flushing 55, Holly 38
Reed Schilling scored 17 points and Makhi McCombs 16 for Flushing, who took control with a 19-6 run in the third quarter. The Raiders improved to 3-0 while Holly fell to 0-3.
Beecher 80, New Standard Academy 38
Keyon Menifield continued to have a warm hand for Beecher, scoring 30 points to go with five steals, four assists and four rebounds. Beecher is 4-1. The new standard is 0-3.

La Coruna 49, Clio 44
Ellie Toney had 16 points, 14 rebounds and four steals to lead Corunna (4-0). Sydnie Gillett added 15 points for the Cavaliers. Clio fell to 1-3.
Genesee Christian 65, Bentley 36
Genesee Christian (2-3) had 28 points and nine interceptions from Ava Boike. Grace Ballmer added 15 points and Kylie VanSteenburg scored eight for the soldiers. Bentley fell to 1-3.
Flushing 50, Holly 32
Alex Long led Flushing with 20 points, six rebounds and five steals. Brooklyn Grissom added eight points, Sarah Rambus had six rebounds and Imani League had four interceptions for the Raiders (3-2). Holly fell to 1-2.
New Lothrop 57, Mt. Morris 20
Brooke Wenzlick scored 15 points, Makayla Lienau added 11 and Alexis Miller had 10 to lead New Lothrop (4-1). Lienau had nine rebounds, Wenzlick and Miller grabbed seven each, and Wenzlick had five assists. Taushia Fuller had 16 points to lead Mt. Morris (0-3).
Byron 72, Durand 34
Sarah Marvin recorded a triple-double, scoring 20 points left with 17 rebounds, 11 rebounds and five steals. Makayla Clement led the Eagles (5-0) with 24 points left with six rebounds and three steals. Becky Marvin added 11 points for Byron, who led 35-17 at halftime.
Goodrich 37, Brandon 20
Goodrich (2-2) ended a two-game losing streak by keeping Brandon scoreless for the first 12 minutes of the second period after being left behind by one point during intermission. Alisha Isenberg led the Martians with 11 points and eight rebounds, Mia Bastion added seven points and 12 rebounds, and Kalen Williams provided seven points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
Midland 53, Carman-Ainsworth 32
Anna Tuck had 21 points and six rebounds for Midland (4-1). Olivia Carpenter had 18 points and seven interceptions. Midland was leading 30-15 at halftime. Carman-Ainsworth fell to 1-1.
Lac Fenton 73, Owosso 22
Lake Fenton scored the game’s first 15 points en route to a 23-4 lead early in the second quarter. Christina Lamb scored 19 points and Macy Phillips 17 for Lake Fenton (3-1). Aubrey Fray had 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. Owosso (1-2) got nine points each from freshmen Lexi Hemker and Peyton Spiecer.
