The Fiat Strada and Ram 700 are unibody pickup trucks whose purpose would be roughly comparable to the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz. The New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) for Latin America and the Caribbean recently tested the pair of Stellantis family trucks, and they managed to earn just one out of a possible five stars.
Latin NCAP tested single and double cab versions of the 700 and Strada. Both configurations received a one-star rating.

According to the crash test notes: “The body was found to be unstable and unable to support further loads.” In the side impact, both models tipped over on two wheels, and the regular cab version looked like it was about to tip over in the video.
There were significant differences in whiplash protection. The simple taxi received a bad rating – the lowest rating possible. Double Cab received high marks – the best available.
Another issue was that side airbags are only standard on the double-cab model. They failed to deploy correctly in the pole impact test and the sensors showed poor protection of the dummy’s head and chest.

Ratings also suffered because the trucks lack safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane assist systems and blind-spot detection.
“Such a low result for Stellantis is very bad in terms of vehicle safety. With such a popular model in the region, we can only denounce Stellantis for this practice of discrimination against consumers in Latin America and the Caribbean “said Stephan, President of Latin NCAP. Brodziak.
In terms of raw scores, the single cab received 47.47% for adult protection, 22.08% for child protection, 40.23% for pedestrian and vulnerable road user protection, and 41. 86% for vehicle safety assistance.
The crew cab did better in some categories and worse in others. It scored 41.39% for adult protection, 52.96% for child protection, 40.23% for pedestrians and vulnerable road users and 48.84% for safety aids.
Don’t expect either of these trucks to be available in the United States. According to a report, Ram is considering a truck that would be below the 1500. There are no details available on this yet.
