A Utah cat was found in an Amazon California warehouse after being accidentally shipped in a return box by its owners.
Galena went missing on April 10, leaving her owners perplexed as to her whereabouts after her family and friends helped them search their home and neighborhood without success.
Owner Carrie Clark told KSL TV – an affiliate of Sky’s US partner NBC News – that she received a text message on April 17 informing her that her Galena’s microchip had been scanned.
Immediately afterwards, she received a call from a veterinarian in California.
“At first I didn’t believe her and thought it was a prank,” she told KSL.
“I ran to tell my husband that Galena had been found and we broke down realizing she must have jumped into an oversized box we had shipped the previous Wednesday.
“The box was try before you buy and was filled with steel toe work boots.”
Galena was stuck inside for six days, without food or water.
Ms. Clark told KSL that she was able to speak with Brandy, the Amazon warehouse worker, who found Galena. The Amazon employee told Clark over the phone that she was taking care of Galena before taking her to the vet the next day.
After receiving the call, the couple booked a flight for the next day and reunited with the family pet.
“Despite being thinner and slightly dehydrated, her blood tests were completely normal and she was completely unharmed,” Ms Clark said.

The couple updated a Facebook post on the page of a Utah County lost and found pet group and praised Galena’s “survival story.”
They wrote: “We are in awe of all the tenderness that took place. It’s a total miracle!!”
Ms Clark told KSL she wanted to encourage all pet owners to microchip their pets, and added: “Three-check your Amazon boxes.”
