Everton have been told their PSR appeal will be heard before the end of the Premier League season.
The Toffees received a two-point deduction earlier this year and immediately appealed the decision, but there has been no conclusion yet.
However, fears that their fate would be decided after the end of the Premier League season have been allayed.
A Premier League statement said on Friday: “The independent appeal committee has confirmed its intention to announce its decision regarding Everton Football Club before the last day of the current season.
“This follows Everton’s appeal against the two-point deduction imposed by an independent commission on the club following its admission of a breach of the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.
“The appeal committee’s intention to make its decision public before Sunday May 19 will provide certainty to all clubs and supporters.
“If necessary, to meet the stipulated deadlines, the Appeal Committee will publish its written reasons separately, no later than 1 June 2024, in accordance with standard Premier League instructions.
“No further comment will be made regarding the matter until the appeal committee’s decision is rendered.”
