Brock Purdy is the franchise quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, cementing his status within the organization after taking the franchise to the Super Bowl in his first full season as a starter. Being a former seventh-round pick – and the last in the 2022 NFL Draft – Purdy doesn’t earn much in salary.
That will soon change, as Purdy has two years remaining on his rookie contract. Purdy doesn’t even think about the huge salary that awaits him.
“I’ve said it many times just taking things one day at a time. I’m trying to win this year and do everything I can for this organization this year,” Purdy said via a 49ers transcript . “Everything else happens as it happens.”
Purdy had a massive first full season as the starting quarterback in San Francisco, completing 69.4% of his passes for 4,280 yards with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He led the league in touchdown percentage (7.0), yards per attempt (9.6) and passer rating (113.0), leading the 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII.
In Purdy’s two seasons with the 49ers, he threw 44 touchdowns and 15 interceptions for a passer rating of 111.4. The 49ers have reached the NFC Championship Game at least twice. Purdy was one extension away from a Super Bowl title last season, wanting to win that championship before the huge payday came his way.
“But for me, I have to improve from last year on film and the things I saw last year,” Purdy said. “In my first year, I have this thing in me that I want to continue to master my craft and that’s it. So it’s obviously also a business. But for me, I love this game. I just love competing with these guys in this organization.
“I love this organization and I want to continue to represent myself for them and in the right way. So that’s where I’m at. Getting too caught up in all that stuff is for me, that’s a no -meaning. So take it one day at a time and it gets better.
Purdy is set to make $1,004,253 this season, a tremendous deal for the 49ers.
