Apple has released the second beta versions of iPadOS 17.3 for iPad, iOS 17.3 for iPhone (which has since been retired), and macOS Sonoma 14.3. The new beta versions are available for download now to any user actively enrolled in the appropriate beta testing program.
Update: Just kidding, iOS 17.3 beta 2 was pulled because it broke some iPhones during software update – gotta love beta testing system software, huh?! macOS Sonoma 14.3 beta 2 and iPadOS 17.3 beta 2 remain available, and a new version of iOS 17.3 beta 2 will likely be released soon.
macOS Sonoma 14.3 doesn’t include any significant new features so far, making it likely a bug fix and security improvement release.
iOS 17.3 includes a cool new feature called Stolen Device Protection, which aims to make it harder to access a device after it’s stolen, even if it knows your password, where the device will require Face ID or Touch ID in addition of the password before. be able to disable things like Find My and Lost Mode, or access or change passwords. The functionality may change before it is made public.
Mac beta testers can download macOS Sonoma 14.3 beta 2 from > System Settings > General > Software Update
iPad and iPhone beta testers can download iOS 17.3 beta 2 and iPadOS 17.2 beta via Settings > General > Software Update.
Since the beta system goes through several versions before a final version is made public, it is reasonable to expect that the final versions of iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3, and macOS Sonoma 14.3 will arrive after several more weeks of beta testing.
