In absolutely massive pop music news, Ariana Grande revealed that she was releasing a remix of her latest track, Yes and?with none other than his idol, Mariah Carey.
The collaboration hits streaming services this Friday, February 16. Carey has long influenced Grande’s career, with the singer and actress opening up about it in a 2012 article. Limelight interview: “I love Mariah Carey. She is literally my favorite human being on the planet. And of course, Whitney [Houston] Also. As far as vocal influences go, Whitney and Mariah pretty much cover them.
Grande’s impressive four-octave vocal range, including the rare whistle register, has been compared to Carey’s voice over the years, so this collaboration should be pretty special.
Announcing the collaboration on Instagram, Grande wrote alongside a photo of herself with her inspiration: “I can’t believe the words I’m typing…… Yes and? The remix featuring the one and only, queen of my heart and lifelong inspiration, Mariah Carey, is released this Friday! »
Calling the remix a “dream come true,” she continued: “There really are no words that are enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this dream come true and for sprinkling your sparkle and magic on my little Mariah Carey song. This means more to me than I could ever express, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it! I love you eternally !
