HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) The adult championships took place this weekend at the Henrico Sports and Events Center.
The final day of the three-day NWBA Adult Championships for Division I, II and III teams took place Sunday, April 14 at the Henrico Sports and Events Center, with teams coming from 32 states.
In the Division I championships, the #1 seed Dallas Mavericks won with a score of 69-57 against the #2 seed MedStar NRH Punishers.
The No. 1 seed LA Clippers won the Division II championships, with a close final score of 66-60 over the No. 2 seed San Antonio ParaSport Spurs.
Hunter Leemon, CEO of Sportable, told 8News during the semifinals game on Saturday, April 13, that over the course of two weekends, more than 1,200 athletes were in attendance at the games.
“These are some of the best athletes in the world,” Leemon said. “We have excellent volunteers. We have great partners. This facility is incredible. It was quite a spectacle.
