This weekend in New York, you might suddenly feel a crisp light in the air – fall has officially arrived. This means one thing in the fashion world: jacket time! Now is the time to get out your favorite outerwear and start thinking about layering. Naturally, Rihanna is already on it. The stylish superstar was spotted out on the town last night wearing a transitional look that combined a glamorous and sporty vibe. And her lightweight jacket just happens to be a style that’s been trending on recent runways.
Rihanna’s look by Dion Lee included a ruched jersey mini dress and a zip-up racing-style hoodie, both from the brand’s Spring 2023 collection (shown just last New York Fashion Week). The sporty jacket is one of the biggest trends of the season: we’ve also seen striped running jackets at Diesel, technical fabric anoraks at Puma and varsity jackets at Kenzo suited for a sporty person. Of course, the catwalks all styled these performance-inspired coats with something more formal, and Rihanna couldn’t help but give hers a dressier feel, too. Her black Balenciaga thigh-high boots, on the other hand, made her more vamp and party-ready, as did her diamond jewelry and vintage Tom Ford-era Gucci clutch. It just wouldn’t be a Rihanna outfit if it didn’t combine a bunch of things that shouldn’t go together, but still do in her hands. She is the master of the mix.
