When it comes to fiery encounters between Chelsea and Tottenham, it’s hard to look past the ‘bridge battle’ in 2016.
But White Hart Lane staged its own war between the two arch-rivals in 2007.
As London clubs prepare to battle it out in the Premier League on Sunday, we look back at an infamous clash that was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
Breathtaking goals from Andriy Shevchenko and Shaun Wright-Phillips should have been the main talking points of the game.
But instead, it was something much uglier and less advisable, as the fierce rivalry between Chelsea and Spurs spilled from the stands onto the pitch.
After edging out a tense and fierce replay of the FA Cup quarter-finals, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and John Terry celebrated shirtless in front of cheering Chelsea fans at the end of the Park Lane pitch.
Challenging? Maybe. But that offered no excuse for what a Tottenham fan decided to do next.
Avoiding the stewards, he charged onto the pitch and headed for Lampard, who caught the pitch invader out of the corner of his eye.
Luckily, Lampard read the supporter’s intention and managed to hide under a punch that was thrown at his chin, causing chaos on the pitch.
Drogba and Terry ran onto the stage as Blues manager Rui Faria tackled the fan to the ground and Lampard tried to fight back, before the stewards arrived to calm things down with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
A Chelsea fan also managed to invade the pitch and had to be taken away by security.
Spurs quickly banned the supporter for life, although Lampard decided not to press charges for assault.
As a number of clubs have recently announced the consequences for any parents who encourage their children to invade, Tottenham vs Chelsea certainly serves as a timely reminder why.
At a time when the essence of cup competitions and rivalries is increasingly lost, the matches remind us of the violence that has so often underpinned these local derbies.
